HELSINKI/BRISTOL, 10. May 2023. Gutsy Animations is pleased to announce the call for entry to the Moominvalley Season 4 Art Competition where the winning piece will be included in the series.
Moominvalley is an award-winning TV-series produced by Gutsy Animations, and based on the beloved stories by Finnish-Swedish author and artist, Tove Jansson. Season four is set to launch in late 2024 and will be directed by Nigel Davies (“Shaun the Sheep”), who has worked on previous seasons of Moominvalley and will take the title of Series Director for the new installment.
Guidelines for entering the Competition:
The submitted artwork should look as if it has been made by one of the Moomin characters.
The paintings can be portrait or landscape, and the topic should somehow include Moominvalley. The art can depict still life, character portraits or landscapes of the valley.
The style is completely free to choose: Child-like like a woodie has made it, very detailed like Mrs Fillyjonk has spent forever painting it, or abstract, stylised.
The entry deadline is Sunday 28th May 2023.

Terms & Conditions
The winner assigns all their rights to submitted artwork to Gutsy Animations.
The submitted artwork must be original and shall not infringe the intellectual property rights or any other personal or property rights of any person or party.
The winner will be contacted via email.
The winner will receive a 200 EUR voucher to Moomin.com.
Artwork that has already been published online or on any public channel, will not be accepted.
The artwork will be adapted to fit the world of the Moominvalley TV series.
Only artwork submitted via email to competition@gutsy.fi will qualify.
Submissions received after the deadline 28th May 2023 will not be accepted.
Submissions should be no smaller than A4 size and sent electronically in the following formats: pdf, png, jpg, tiff or psd.
The Moominvalley animated series has received numerous nominations and awards for both storytelling and sound design since its first season. These include, among others, an Annie Award nomination 2023, an Emmy® nomination 2020, an Annecy nomination in the Best TV Movie category 2021, an audience award (Best Audience Episodic Award) at the famous New York International Children's Film Festival 2022, and the Golden Venla award in 2019 and 2020 for the Best Children's and Youth Program.
Moominvalley has been sold to over 60 countries to date, including Finland (Yle), UK (Sky), Scandinavia, the Baltics and the Netherlands (Viaplay), Japan (NHK) and Germany (ZDF). Additionally, season three of Moominvalley was awarded the Albert certification in recognition of Gutsy Animations’ sustainable production processes.
